The 2020 Aged Care Workforce Census and Issues Arising for Residential Care Workforce Planning and Policy

The Australian Government has committed to addressing the recommendations on workforce made by 2021 Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. Implementation requires a sound information base but examination of 2020 Workforce Census finds it inadequate for these purposes. Only half reported 32 per cent increase is substantiated basis funding increases balance attributed extraneous factors that inflated results. These limitations are discussed with reference four major areas planning policy conclusions drawn about margins change associated each areas.
